Continuing from last month, ufortunately all events are cancelled due to the current Corona Virus restrictions, up to and including Whitby Regatta. The night sky, however, still as bright as ever: enjoy! (Disclaimer: Night Sky should be enjoyed safely in a back-garden with up to six neighbours, suitably socially distanced. (^_^))

They say June's Full Moon got its name as it's the month when wild strawberries begin to ripen. ('Evidently not named by a Canary Islander!' --Andi) Be that as it may, Mark has been out in force to take some photos for you pleasure and delight. So ('Odd-one-out' round) which of these Moons is not a Strawberry Moon?

Mercury really is particularly small and faint in the sky; particularly as it never appears in a dark sky. Try to spot Mercury in these pictures.

We shall once again be travelling over to Westerdale to host a star party on Friday Oct 2nd.
The venue will be the village hall / car park area within the village. Start time is 19:30hrs for the public.
Directions: The Village Hall is located in the centre of the village to the west of the main street. Turn past the Phone and Post boxes and after 20 metres proceed up the gravelled track on the left. Point your SatNav to post code: YO21 2DT. All welcome.

In Members' monthly meetings we usually take a tour of the night sky for the coming month using the Planetarium program. Have talks and presentations on various topics of astronomy/space etc, and discuss future events etc. New members welcome.
