Monthly society meetings conclude for this season on May 6th at Whitby School - room H1 starting from 7:30pm.

Due to various factors such as weather conditions, illnesses, and holidays, many members were unable to attend the January meeting. Consequently, they missed a fascinating presentation by society member Paul Cass on the Anglo-Australian Schmidt telescope facility, where he worked for many years. We are pleased to announce that Paul has graciously agreed to deliver the presentation once more, and we hope that a greater number of members will be able to attend this final meeting before the summer recess.

Paul provided an insightful account of the significance of the iconic facility at Siding Springs, New South Wales, Australia. Those of us who were present first-time round will greatly appreciate a second opportunity to hear the presentation. It is also a rare opportunity to see firsthand genuine full-size Schmidt negative plates. Hope you can make it along.

Society meetings are held at Whitby School - Prospect Hill site (formally Caedmon College - Nornanby Campus) from October to May. The venue name is what most local people from the 70s to the 2000s would associate with that site. Start time is 7:30pm.

If you are interested in the night sky and want to take 'one small step', please do come along, you will be very welcome for our last meeting before the summer recess.

There are no scheduled star party events in May or June - light evenings, lack of planets and Moon phases that do not fit with the observational calendar, all make it not viable.
