Interior work in the new Danby Lodge observatory is more or less completed, with a run-in phase commencing this month. Several dates are earmarked, with a date for WDAS members pencilled in for Jan 23rd.

The facility will significantly enhance the North Yorkshire Moors National Park's capacity to boost astro-tourism, attracting visitors seeking to better observe the night sky from a site within an officially recognised dark sky reserve.

Presentation room early December.....

As can be seen the observatories spacious presentation room has progressed since last month, now having an amazing lunar mural and inscription feature. The presentation room doubles as a multi-use environment that may be utilised for other activities apart from astro-tourism related.

And now...

Once Park staff and others are familiar with the instrumentation and operational requirements, presenting hosts and those willing to assist - whether from astronomical societies, or individuals, will presumably be available for bookable public events organised via the NYMPA through their website. A clearer picture of proceedings, along with more images will be forthcoming at the WDAS January meeting and provided next month.
