There were some subtle differences to the first event, WDAS members; Brian, John, and Keith all unable to assist, Lee, Mark (and Mark's wife) parking at the hostel in misty conditions, unloading and setting up for yet another indoor presentation, Lee at the helm of the laptop instead of Keith.
Another subtle difference was that Mark remembered to bring all required for the evening! Glynnis from the WYH was again on duty, giving introductions to yet another sizeable crowd. After offering more apologies on the weather, Mark pressed on down what seems to be an all too familiar route this autumn, an overarching description of the Autumn night sky followed by the usual mix of sky app presentation, scale demo's, etc.
A welcome refreshment break allowed for some Q&As, before the meteorite collection was passed around. Mark concentrated on the aurora and comet images and time lapse clips for the shorter second half. Again, people were greatly impressed by these, and eager to see a display for themselves. All the while, mizzle and mist clung to night outdoors - allowing no opportunity for any observations outside.
A familiar scenario then, people quite content to view the heavens inside, our efforts appreciated by all present. Many thanks to Lee and Glynnis at the hostel (and Mark's wife). Hopefully the events scheduled at the hostel next February may involve at least some outdoor activity.
