The scheduled star party event on the 14th was looking promising, coinciding with mild conditions and seemingly clearing skies during late afternoon.  As we know all too well matters can quickly alter and by early evening cloud began to spill across the moors leaving just a few breaks to the northwest.  Mark had already arranged to meet up with Brian, Keith and Lee on the West Cliff around 7:45pm, doing so under a blanket of cloud (a veneer in places), but still thick enough to hide the stars.  Chewing the cud for a good 40 minutes, taking a few images, and talking to a few people who had optimistically turned up, we continued to scan for any improvement, but to no avail, not one star, just a hint of moonlight to the south.  Without any promise of change - the breeze had totally died down, scopes stayed in the car and by 8:45pm we called time.

Decent evening, reasonable sunset - breaks low to the NW, but the rest of the sky was cloudy.
